I was so proud to join the ONE Campaign and chef’s Andrew Zimmern, Hugh Acheson, and Nina Compton on Capitol Hill, where we advocated for bringing energy access to 50 million people in sub-Saharan Africa. I also appeared with Tom Hart, US Executive Director of ONE, on News Channel 8’s “Let’s Talk Live” to talk about the initiative.

Did I mention I love doing things in Spanish? I got up early to make some sweet treats for Fall on Telemundo 47 Primera Edición, with some help from host Odalys Molina. If you missed us, watch the clip right here…

I spent the morning at the Today Show, cooking up a couple of my favorite recipes for summer with Natalie Morales and Al Roker. We made Lime-Rubbed Chicken and, to go with it, Mexican Red Rice.

I was excited to visit CNN Español on Cinco de Mayo. I spoke to Juan Carlos López about the significance of the holiday on both sides of the border, and how it is celebrated in Mexico versus the U.S., on Directo USA. Watch the clip here…

You know how much I love being a guest on ABC’s The Chew, and this time they invited me to stay for the whole show as a guest host! In case you missed it, here are the segments…

Of course, I made something, too! Here I make one of my favorite healthy dishes, a Mexican inspired Frittata, with help from Daphne Oz and Carla Hall.

And then we finish up the Frittata and serve it with a crunchy Radish and Arugula Salad.

Mario Batali and Clinton Kelly shared some healthy recipes; watch them make their low-cal party appetizers in the next two clips…

And we get to try their appetizers…

Michael Symon shows us how to have a winter garden inside…

Finally, on The Chew’s online “Last Bites” segment, we talk about the Chew Crew’s hosts favorite destinations in Mexico…

I visited the ladies at The Talk to share an Emmy Awards party menu (or any party menu). It’s full of fun, tasty and colorful finger foods! Watch as Sheryl Underwood takes a bite out of a habanero chile…I was in total disbelief!

On my recent trip to Mexico, I visited the carnitas capital of the world – Quiroga, Michoacán! So, of course, this time on ABC‘s The Chew, I had to share my perfected recipe for carnitas. I made Carnitas Tacos with Daphne Oz, and we mixed up some Salsa Verde Cruda to top them.

Watch the segment on the Carnitas Tacos…

18 JULY 2013
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

I will be a part of the Smithsonian‘s “Food in the Garden” series this summer at the National Museum of American History

Heirlooms: Old, New, Local, Global
Heirloom foods let us taste history while preserving it, but what do “heirlooms” really mean and where do they come from? Join the conversation about native plants, new varieties, and the global influence of diverse communities on foods right here in the DC region. We’ll be talking with: Pati Jinich, host of “Pati’s Mexican Table” and cookbook author, Rayna Green, National Museum of American History curator and Native American food and plant specialist, Hiu Newcomb of Potomac Vegetable Farm, and Ira Wallace of the Southern Exposure Seed Exchange.
